Flock and automated license plate readers (ALPRs) are a misuse of surveillance technology. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been integrated into the cameras and is able to track your movements across the country. The cameras analyze your car's color, make, and model, the date and time, any identifying features such as bumper stickers and dents. The cameras are estimated to be able to capture this information from any vehicle traveling up to 100mph, within 75 feet from the camera, regardless of lighting.
How are they going to sell us on these cameras? "Safety!" Police departments intend to use them to capture criminals and stop crimes, but there have been many reports of cops misusing the technology to stalk exes or romantic interests. And in this political climate, we believe it'll be used against anyone they deem as their political enemy.
Flock/ALPRs allow police to track us without ever needing a warrant. This is an infringement on YOUR fourth amendment rights.
We are opposed to the installation of automated license plate readers (ALPRs), such as Flock, and support the Stop Flock and the DeFlock campaigns. We are also advocating for our local politicians to end all contracts with Flock Safety and other ALPR vendors, and take down all the Flock and other ALPR cameras.
We have joined forces with other local groups. We're calling this grassroots coalition STAFF, Southern Tier Alliance Fighting Flock, contact us for more information on how to deflock the Southern Tier. Everyone who joins the STAFF coalition is equal, we are not in charge, it is an alliance of equals.
